PAOLOZZI, Eduardo

Sir Eduardo Paolozzi CBE RA (1924 – 2005) was a Scottish artist, known for his sculpture and graphic works. He is widely considered to be one of the pioneers of pop art.

Paolozzi and his workshop would explore compositional development using plaster maquettes. Often Paolozzi would make casts of ready made objects such as action toy figures and model insects. The collection we have however are all forms developed from scratch by Paolozzi, ie. designed and modelled by the artist’s hand or assembled from found machine parts. The library of maquettes (varying in sizes) were then sometimes used in more than one bronze composition. This collection has the integrity of being individually designed by the artist and not a simple cast from a ready made ‘off-the-shelf’ object. Please ask for more images of the objects in the round.
