Minton was born in Cambridgeshire in 1917 and studied at St John's School of Art. He spent 8 months in Provence with Michael Ayrton and deployed of the devices used by the French neo-Romantics. After spending the War as a conscientious objector, he shared a studio with Robert Colquhoun and Robert MarBryde and additionaly came under the influence of Graham Sutherland. He taught at Camberwell and Central School of Art and in 1945 held his first solo exhibition at Roland, Browse and Delbanco. Minton committed suicide in 1957.
