The Eric Gill wood engraving ‘Hands’ was cut by the artist in 1937. The original block emerged from a private collection during the 1980’s and returned to the private sector during the 1990’s. In the interim, Michael Mitchell at Libanus Press produced a printed edition of 75 from the block. Each impression was printed on a full sheet and the border was numbered and blindstamped. The block (P194) measures 23.5cm x 14.5cm plus full sheet border. (Please note that the published edition of 25 Nudes by Hague & Gill in 1938 does not contain impressions from the wood blocks but are an early form of facsimile)
