Paul Maze (1887-1979) was born in Le Havre, France. Educated in France and England. Started painting in Italy in 1914. Met Winston Churchill during the World War I, with whom he stayed friends. In 1918 rented a studio in Paris, neighbour of Derain and de Segonzac. Finally settled in England. Regular exhibitor in Paris, London and America. A series of exhibitions at Browse and Darby from 1983. His work is represented in many art galleries, including Tate Gallery, Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge and Glasgow Art Gallery
