WESSON, Edward

Edward Wesson (1910-1983) was born in Blackheath and known for his simple yet elegant watercolours of coasts and rivers, Edward Wesson spent much of his life in Kent. During the Second World War, he was in Italy and Sicily, painting continuously. Wesson was largely self-taught,. He exhibited widely including at the Royal Academy, the Royal Society of British artists and the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, the Alexander Gallery in Bristol held a major retrospective in 1999.
