Carving in plaster (ie. the reduction through carving of a plaster block) Intentionally coloured. Possibly an initial idea for the composition of ‘Our Lady of Pity’ in Norwich Cathedral (1967-8) although the form and method would imply earlier (circa 1945 perhaps when Skelton was carving plaster by way of exploring technique). Measures 28cm high including original wood base. Repaired crack across right shoulder. Area of plaster lost to base at back. Provenance: The studio of John Skelton.
