Jack Greaves (b. 1928) is a sculptor, artist in oil, pastel and watercolour and teacher, born in Leeds, Yorkshire, who studied at the College of Art there, 1948–51; Royal College of Art, 1951–4; and British School in Rome, 1960–1. After teaching in Stroud, he was appointed head of the department of sculpture at Cheltenham College of Art. He had a studio in the Cotswolds, 1955–64; was at Ohio State University, 1964–8; worked in America and the Cotswolds, 1968–88; then had a studio in Yorkshire, living in Snainton, Scarborough. Greaves was a member of RWA. Group exhibitions included Three Humanist Sculptors, Zwemmer Gallery, 1960; 19 Young Sculptors, Hillfield Gardens, Gloucester, 1962; Bruton Gallery, from 1970; and widely in America from 1977. Solo shows included Ohio State University, 1966; Stroud Festival, 1969; Search Gallery, 1973; Vorpal Gallery, New York, 1978; and Gallery 200, Columbus, from 1985.
