A large, signed oil on board measuring 117cm x 39cm. Signed and dated 1960 verso. Additional part signature in composition.

Provenance: Bought privately from the artist, and then by descent.

Condition: The condition of too many of Jack Pender’s works are not explained. They are often bought with no explanation of restorations, pigment losses or damage.

The base to which Pender applied oil was not always secure, resulting in lifting and flaking of paint. This work had some retouching to the edges around 30 years ago. Additional pigment loss to the edges has required professional restoration. The work has been cleaned, with the small areas requiring restoration being rectified. No part of the main body of the composition required additional attention. The result is the work is now superbly presented. Very gentle bowing to the ply board, not requiring attention. Original frame.

In summary, the work has been restored and presented like many other Jack Penders. I have explained that the work required restoration, for the sake of accuracy.
